In an effort to acquire deemed University status for the Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT), RTM Nagpur University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with it. LIT is an A+ accredited institute, which has been granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Maharashtra Government has sought information about the employees, corpus fund, and plan for making it a deemed university. In an effort to facilitate making LIT a deemed university the Higher and Technical Department of the State Government has sought some information about the property, including documents. to be transferred by the RTMNU to LIT.
As per the directions of the State Government, an MoU was signed under the guidance of RTMNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhari. The MoU was signed by the Director of LIT Dr Raju Mankar and RTMNU Registrar Dr Raju Hoiwase. Three departments of the University including its infrastructure and furniture were handed over to LIT. The staff was offered an option to select employment with the LIT Deemed University or RTMNU. In case of vacancies at LIT new posts will be created and filled in. The students will be transferred to the new LIT university in one stroke. All these conditions have been incorporated in the MoU.
