Fire broke out at Mayo Hospital’s Ward No. 34, causing panic among patients and their relatives. Hospital officials swiftly responded, extinguishing the flames and preventing casualties. The fire originated from a short circuit in the doctors’ room of the Orthopedic Department.
Smoke quickly spread, prompting the evacuation of patients’ relatives. Mayo Hospital’s Electrical Safety Officer and Maharashtra Security Force personnel promptly arrived and utilized fire extinguishers to control the fire.
However, it was revealed that the hospital’s fire alarm system had not sounded during the incident, due to lack of maintainance. Mayo Hospital administration has pledged an investigation and improvements to fire safety measures, emphasizing the importance of regular equipment maintenance.
