Nagpur Municipal Corporation, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and Zilla Parishad Education Department started an awareness campaign among the school children, on Child Rights and Laws pertaining to children.
The inaugural programme was held at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Sabhagruha, Reshimbag, on Friday. District Judge Z P Zapate, DLSA Secretary and Denior Judge Sachin Patil, ZP CEO Soumya Sharma, DCP Sudarshan, DBA President Roshan Bagde, Deputy Director of Education Ulhas Narad, NMC Education Officer Rajendra Pusekar, ZP Education Officer Ravindra Katolkar and others were present.
Information about POCSO, Child Rights, Juvenile Justice, DLSA was given to the children. The campaign is being conducted to generate awareness among children about sexual harassment and prevent them.
Sachin Patil spoke about provisions in the Constitution. DLSA’s motto of ‘Justice for All’ was explained to the children. They were also informed about their rights and various government schemes for their development and bright future.
Justice Zapate said that about 13,000 girls eloped from Maharashtra during the last six months. He narrated various reasons behind this. Awareness about the manner in which children are misguided is therefore necessary, he said.
Soumya Sharma spoke about cybercrime and the care to be taken by children to protect themselves from cybercrime. DCP Sudarshan informed about POCSO and help from Police. DLSA President Roshan Bagde gave information about the help extended by DLSA to the victims..
Anand Manjarkhede of DLSA conducted the proceedings. Mukund Adewar proposed a vote of thanks.
