Nagpur’s South Central Cultural Center is all set to host the 32nd Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Music Festival, a tribute to the renowned Indian vocalist. The festival, which has become an annual tradition, will take place from July 28th to July 30th, 2023, at the Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Auditorium in Civil Lines, Nagpur.
The first day’s program will conclude with a “Hindustani Classical Vocal” presentation by the acclaimed vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty from Kolkata.
On July 29th, Saturday, the festival’s first performance will be a tabla ensemble titled “Swarlaya Sudha” by Peravali Jaya Bhaskar and a group from Hyderabad.
The second day of the music festival will conclude with a musical session of “Hindustani Classical Vocal” by Padma Shri Pandit M. Venkatesh Kumar from Dharwad.
On July 30th, Sunday, the Marathi musical play “Sangeet Mawali” will be performed by Amrut Natya Bharati, Marathi Sahitya Sangh (Mumbai).
Invitation passes for the festival will be available at the South Central Cultural Center’s office in Nagpur starting from July 21st, 2023. The passes, priced at Rs. 300/-, will grant access to all three days of the festival.
The organizers, led by Prof. Suresh Sharma, Director in charge of the South Central Cultural Center, extend a warm invitation to the music enthusiasts and art lovers of Nagpur to partake in the 32nd Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Music Festival, where the rich heritage of Indian classical music will be celebrated and cherished.
