Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a high-level investigation into a video allegedly showing BJP leader Kirit Somaiya in a compromising position. The video was aired on a Marathi TV channel and raised as a concern in the Upper House of the state legislature.
Responding to the issue raised by the Leader of Opposition in the Upper House and Shiv Sena leaders, Fadnavis stated that a detailed inquiry would be conducted, and the woman in the video would be identified. He assured that nobody involved would be protected, and the police would be informed.
In response to the uproar, Somaiya wrote to Fadnavis requesting an inquiry into the video’s authenticity and emphasized on Twitter that he had never mistreated a woman. However, opposition leaders handed over a pen drive containing alleged footage of Somaiya and demanded a probe into the matter.
They expressed concern over the leader’s alleged connections with central agencies and urged for an investigation to determine if the woman in the video was being blackmailed. The demand for the removal of his security was also raised during the proceedings.
