The Nagpur Heritage Committee has approved the proposal for the protection of the Railway Station Building and renovation of the gate of Pataleshwar Temple, Mahal, here.
The proposals were cleared after an in-depth discussion on the issues. The discussion was held in a meeting of a committee constituted by the State Government relating to the preservation and protection of heritage structures in Nagpur.
A meeting of the Committee with the City Planning Department was held on Thursday at Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Headquarters. Architect Ashokl Mokha, Member of Heritage Committee Pramod Gawande, Shubha Jouhari, Executive Engineer of Nagpur Improvement Trust Meghrajani, APS Gill of Indian Railways, R B Joshi and N Chatterjee of Income Tax Department were present.\
The Nagpur Railway Station building is a heritage building and its renovation is being carried out by the Rail Land Development Agency. The Railway Station Building is a Grade-II heritage building and the owner is Central Railways. The proposal for the renovation of the gate of Pataleshwar Temple, which is under NMC was also cleared by the Heritage Committee. Pataleshwar Temple is a Heritage structure of Grade-I.
The bungalows of Income Tax Department number 43-A and 43-B is proposed to be demolished and construction of a new building is proposed. Both the bungalows under Seminary Hill are heritage structures. The Heritage Committee has granted permission for the reconstruction of the bungalows, informes a press note issued here.
