Maharashtra Government has announced financial help of Rs 10,000 to the flood-affected persons. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the state legislature on Monday.
The announcement was made as some areas in Maharashtra are facing heavy to very heavy rains during the last eight days. Farmers were badly affected by the floods. Many houses were also damaged as flood water entered villages.
Informing the Legislative Council on Monday Pawar said that besides Rs 10,000 to the flood-affected villagers, the shop owners who suffered will be given Rs 50,000 and the families of those who died due to flood will be given Rs 4 lakhs each.
Pawar informed the House that on July 19 many districts of the state received very heavy rains. That includes Yavatmal, Buldana, and Washim. NDRF rescued 110 people in Yavatmal. Helicopters were also pressed into action to rescue the people.
Pawar said Buldana district received 102 mm of rain flooding rivers and small nullahs. Washim received 139.7 mm of rainfall. The financial help has been extended from Rsd 5,000 to Rs 10,000. The orders have been issued, Ajit Pawar said. The government is also supplying food grains and other essential goods to the flood-affected, Pawar added.
