The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court expressed its opinion while giving a decision on a case that everyone should be responsible while keeping WhatsApp status. Court slapped a young man who hurt religious sentiments through WhatsApp status. The High Court rejected the application of this young man to quash the FIR filed against him.
Mangrulpir police have filed an FIR against Kishore Landkar (27) of Mozri in Washim district under Section 295-A of IPC, Information Technology Act and Atrocities Act for keeping a WhatsApp status that hurts religious sentiments. Kishore had filed an application in the High Court to quash that FIR. After the final hearing, the High Court recorded the above opinion and dismissed his application.
The court also said in the judgment that no one can evade his responsibility by saying that WhatsApp status is limited to a limited number of people. Justices Vinay Joshi and Valmiki Menezes delivered the verdict.
