The students of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University who have excelled in sports will be felicitated during a function to be held at the University’s Gurunanak Bhavan, at 1.30 pm on July 27.
A total of 570 students will get cash prizes totaling Rs 41.86 lakhs. Five students have bagged maximum prizes.
Top three students who have won medals in the inter-university competitions will be given cash prizes. Vice-Chancellor of Swarnim Gujarat Sports University and Brand Ambassador of Fit India Movement Dr Arjunsinh Rana will be the chief guest. RTMNU VC Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Pro-VC Dr Sanjay Dudhe, and Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase will remain present.
The students from the academic sessions 2019-20, 2021-22, and 2022-23 have been selected for the awards. The selected students are winners of various medals in the Maharashtra State Inter-University Sports Contest, Khelo India University Games, World University Games, National Youth Festival, Indradhanush Youth Festival, West Zone Youth Festival, Utkarsh and other competitions. The event is being organized for students from Nagpur District only. A similar programme will be held for other districts under RTMNU in their districts.
The University’s Sports Department, Students Development and National Service Scheme have selected the 570 students. This includes 475 in sports, 45 NSS volunteers and 50 from the Students Development Department.
Janhavi Kadu of Dharampeth M P Deo Science College has won cash prizes of Rs 72,000 in sports category. Mahola Mahavidyalaya’s Prajakta Godbole will get Rs 52,000; Rutuja Talegaonkar of Dr Ambedkar College will be given cash prize of Rs 44,000; Alifia Pathan of Saraswati Mahavidyalaya, Koradi will received Rs 40,000, and Shri Binzani City College student Shubhangi Raut will be given Rs 27,000.
The award function for students of the Bhandara district will be held at Sakoli on August 8; for the Wardha district at Selu on August 11 and for the Gondia district at Gondia on August 18.
