The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of state Universities Ramesh Bais has appointed Dr Niteen Vasantrao Patil as the new Vice Chancellor of the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) Nagpur.
Dr Niteen Patil is presently serving as Principal Scientist (Animal Nutrition), Division of Livestock Production and Range Management, ICAR- Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The appointment has been made for a term of five years from the date he assumes the charge of the office of vice chancellor or till he attains the age of sixty five, whichever is earlier.
Dr Niteen Patil (B. 28 Sept.1961) obtained his M.V.Sc. in Animal Nutrition from PKV Akola and took Ph.D. from the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal. He has vast experience of teaching, research and extension education.
Dr Patil succeeds Dr. Ashish Paturkar whose term as vice chancellor ended on 21st January 2023. Dr. Sharad Gadakh, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola was holding the additional charge of the post.
The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of former judge of Supreme Court Justice R.K. Agrawal, to recommend a panel of names suitable for appointment of the Vice Chancellor.
Dr. Ravishankar C. N., Director & Vice Chancellor of ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) and J.P.Gupta, Principal Secretary, Government of Maharashtra were the members of the Search Committee.
