A meeting to plan programmes under the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ programme of the Government of India during the 75th year of Independence was convened by the Municipal Commissioner, Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, on Friday. The celebrations will be held from August 9 to 15.
As per instructions of the Centre, developing tanks called Amrut Sarivar with plaques, administering the oath for the protection of the five elements, selfie points, Wasundhara Vandan (saluting the Earth), saluting the martyrs, flag hoisting, reciting the national anthem will be implemented.
Instructions for installation of plaques at tanks at Ambazari, Sonegaon, Gandhi Sagar, Futala, Naik Talav, Police Line Takli etc., and inscribing the martyrs’ names were issued. A total of 75 Selfie Points will be erected where the people with an earthen lamp in hand will take the oath of protecting the five elements. The help of Self-Help Groups, social organisations, schools and colleges should be sought. Best Selfie will be rewarded by NMC.
At 75 locations, including gardens, grounds etc., plantation will be done. Plantation will also be done at ‘Amrut Vatika’ in Chinchbhuvan. Members of the martyrs, freedom fighters and retired military personnel will be honoured, Chaudhary informed.
