At least six passengers died as two buses collided head-on on the flyover near Laxmi Nagar in Malegaon in the Buldana district of Maharashtra, in the early hours of Saturday. A private bus carrying pilgrims returning from Amarnath collided with another bus going to Nashik from Nagpur.
Buldana police rushed to the spot on getting the information. At least six passengers were killed, and more than 25 were injured in the accident. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Buldana. The Amarnath pilgrims were returning to Hingoli with 35 to 40 passengers on board. The Nagpur-Nashik bus had about 30 passengers. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Buldana Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Police sources said that the number of casualties could increase. Some of the passengers were critically injured and are being treated in the intensive care unit.
