Four people, including a policeman, were killed in a shootout on a Jaipur-Mumbai train near Virar station in Mumbai. Assistant police inspector Tikaram is also among the dead. After this incident, the accused RPF constable, Chetan Kumar, was arrested in Dahisar. The Borivali Railway Police is probing the incident.
Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, told the media that the firing took place at 5:23 am on Monday in the B-5 bogie of the Jaipur-Mumbai Express. RPF police constable Chetan Kumar shot assistant police inspector Tikaram. Three passengers who intervened also died of bullet injuries. After this incident, the accused constable stopped the train by pulling the chain at Dahisar station and tried to escape. He was arrested by the police. Borivali Railway Police have sent the bodies of all to Shatabdi Hospital.
The team of Assistant Police Inspector Tikaram joined duty from Surat station. Tikaram’s feud with Constable Chetan Kumar started after Palghar. The cause of the dispute was not known. In the moving train around Virar station, the accused shot Tikaram with his service revolver. Three passengers opposing this were also shot dead. When the train reached Dahisar-Mira Road station, the accused pulled the chain. Chetan Kumar will be produced in court today itself.
