Shinde-Fadnavis Goverment along with the NCP MLAs, the post of Leader of the Opposition became vacant. However, Balasaheb Thorat remains as the legislative leader of the Congress party.
As the number of MLAs decreased by the Sharad Pawar group, the Congress, as the largest party in the Maha vikas Aghadi, claimed the post of Leader of the Opposition.
Meanwhile, the names of MLA Sangram Thopte, Yashomati Thakur, Sunil Kedar were being discussed in the Congress for the post of Leader of the Opposition, But the Congress party finally sealed the name of wadettiwar.
Vijay Wadettiwar started his political career from Shiv Sena. wadettiwar has been an MLA continuously since 2004. wadettiwar has served in the Maharashtra cabinet as a minister from 2008 to 2010 and from 2019 to 2022. In 2019, he got the opportunity to work as the Leader of the Opposition for only six months. Currently he represents Bramhapuri Assembly Constituency in Chandrapur District.
