Nagpur Municipal Corporation has suspended two officials for paying contractors without completing the work. The suspended officers have been identified as Anand Lamsinghe and Shailesh Jambhulkar. Both were posted in the Laxminagar zone. While Anand was working as a junior engineer in the Slum Department, Jambhulkar was a junior engineer in the Public Health Engineer Department. This action has been taken on the orders of the Commissioner.
11 crore fund was sanctioned for laying sewerage lines in Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s Constituency. The main sewage line from the Hingna T-point was to be taken via Subhash Nagar, Lokhande Nagar, Gayatri Nagar, and Shastri Nagar. The minor lines of all the concerned settlements were also to be connected to this main line.
The contractor did not complete the work. But the bill was fully paid to the contractor. The problem is not being resolved, and the local citizens started complaining about it. Seeing the complaints coming from the people, the Chief Engineer took it seriously and set up an inquiry.
Both officers were found guilty in the investigation. After that, the inquiry committee sent its report to the commissioner. Where the commissioner issued an order suspending both officers.
