Jagdeep Dhankhad, Vice-president of India will attend the centenary year of Rashtrsant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, at 3.30 pm on August 4. The event will be held at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Hall, Reshimbag, here. Chancellor of the universities in Maharashtra and Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais will preside over. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar; Higher Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Vice-Chancellors of all the universities in Maharashtra will be the guests of honour.
Five prominent personalities will be honoured with ‘Jeevan Sadhana’ award. Ideal Educational Institution, Ideal Officer, Ideal Employee, Prof Balraj Aher MemorialGold Medal, centenary year medals and prizes to students will be given on the occasion.
Nagpur University was established on August 4, 1023 with six affiliated colleges, 917 students enrolled in four faculties. It was renamed in 2005 as Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and has 48 post-graduate teaching departments and about 500 colleges affiliated to it imparting education to over 4 lakh students. The University was accredited by NAAC at A rank.
The university has excelled in research in various faculties, and hosted the 108th Indian Science Congress, 72nd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress and various other conferences. It also has a training centre of the Sports Authority of India, sports facilities of international quality.
The University’s Laxmninarayan Institute of Technology has been upgraded as a university and has received A+ grade. The university conducts various academic and social projects.
The Jeevan Sadhana Awards will be conferred upon – Dr H F Daginawala, Dr Nirupama Deshpande, Dr Shivkisan Agrawal, Prof Suresh Deshmukh and Dr Harishchandra Borkar.
Ideal Officers awards will be given to – Dr Raman Madne and Ganesh Kumkumwar. Ideal Employee awards to – Pradip Ghyar, Arun Hattewar, Vilas Ghode and Bhaskar Ghode.
Principal Balraj Aher memorial Gold Medal will be awarded to Pradeep Biniwale.
The Centennial Year Gold Medals will be awarded tyo Employees – Wasim Ahmad, Pravin Gotmare, Rajendra Balpande and Darpan Gajbhiye; Students – Vishal Kharchwal and Anushka Naag.
For Cultural activities – Ashutosh Tiwari and Ashlesha Khante will be honoured. NCC Cadets – Sahil Khelkar and Arju Pathan will be felicitated. Best student award will be given to Manish Kadukar and Prithvi Raut.
