Mahavitaran has decided to set up 50 charging stations for e-vehicles on three major highways, including the Nagpur-Mumbai Samriddhi Expressway. The other three highways are Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Nashik-Jalgaon and Pune-Kolhapur. The company has written to the state government, State Road Development Corporation and National Highways Authority of India seeking land for this purpose.
According to officials, the central and state governments are promoting e-vehicles to reduce pollution and the country’s dependence on imported fuel. Still, charging stations for e-vehicles are not available everywhere. Therefore, e-vehicles must be charged at home, or vehicles must be taken to charging stations available in a few places. As a result, Mahavitaran has decided to set up charging stations on major highways in the state.
Four charging stations will be set up in the first phase. Apart from this, until now, many consumers have been charging e-vehicles using household electricity. Household electricity rates are higher than vehicle charging rates. As a result, customers were getting huge bills. Now Mahavitran has given consumers the option of a second power connection for vehicle charging. The aim behind this is to promote e-vehicles.
