On the occasion of National Vascular Day, Swasthyam superspecialty Hospital in association with Rotary club of Nagpur Fort is organising a walkathon on August 6 to mark the National Vascular Day.
A 4.2 km event will be held at Walkers Street in Civil Lines at 7 a.m. The nationwide event will be organised in 25 cities across the country with a pledge for amputation free India. The motive behind the move is to draw attention towards the importance of vascular health while fostering a sense of community and solidarity.
Health data reveals more and more of the population is at the risk of preventable amputations as patients suffer from factors causing atherosclerosis like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and smoking. These amputations can be prevented by lifestyle changes, and if at all the need arises, treatment can be done early, thus preserving their quality of life.
