Kishore Tijare (45), working as a constable at Police Headquarters, Katol Road, Nagpur, was brain dead due to an accident. Four families were greatly supported by his organ donation before he left the world.
Tijare was going on a two-wheeler from Gittikhadan Chowk for some office work. He had an accident on the road. He was rushed to New Era Hospital after suffering severe brain damage in the accident.
The doctor started treating Kishore. As there was no proper response to the treatment, some medical examinations were conducted, and it was revealed that he was brain dead. Immediately, this information was given to Tijare’s family along with the departmental organ transplant committee. Counselling regarding organ donation was done by the Departmental Organ Transplantation Committee along with doctors at New Era Hospital. As soon as the family consented, the search for a matching chromosome with the patient’s organs began. Finally, on Thursday (August 10), one kidney was transplanted into a 47-year-old New Era Hospital patient on the waiting list and the other into a 30-year-old Care Hospital patient. So both the irises were given to Mahatme I Bank. After this iris is transplanted in two patients, they too will be able to see this beautiful world. However, due to technical reasons, the liver could not be transplanted elsewhere.
