As per the news disclosed by the officials, more than 10 lakh candidates hopeful for the position of Talathi, including MBAs, engineers, and PhDs, have applied for 4,600 ‘Talathi’ positions in Maharashtra.
A talathi is a revenue department officer whose job is to keep village accounts relating to land revenue demand and collection, record rights and other village forms specified by the government, inspect crops and boundary marks, and create agricultural statistics. Talathis are Class C employees with monthly salary ranging from Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100.
According to Anand Rayate, coordinator of state examinations and extra director of land records, 10.53 lakh applications have been received for 4,600 talathis posts.
He added saying, “The exam will be held in three shifts daily at various centres across the state between August 17 and September 14”.
According to the government announcement, the exam will be held in three 2-hour slots everyday: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m., and 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and any graduate can apply for the post.
