In a recent development, the administration of Pranvayu Cluster of Vidarbha Hospitals Association has officially written to the MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) urging the return of the 3-acre land that was initially provided to them at Butibori for setting up an oxygen plant.
During Covid times, government authorities had motivated VHA to commission a large oxygen plant for common usage of all VHA members. Accordingly, MSME affiliation was also undertaken. Hon’ble Union Minister Shri.Nitin Gadkari had also then recommended the allotment of MIDC land to VHA at subsidized costs for said plant.
However, it was evaluated by VHA that establishing the plant is presently not feasible as the situation regarding the availability of oxygen in Nagpur region has significantly improved, and they have observed a surplus in supply from the existing sources. Most of the hospitals have made alternative self-generating plants. After careful analysis and consideration, it has become apparent that the construction of an additional oxygen plant at this juncture would not be a financially viable prospect for the Pranvayu Cluster of VHA.
Accordingly, they have written to MIDC authorities requesting permission to surrender the land allotted for the construction of the common oxygen plant at Butibori location. Moreover, they have desired that no penalties or charges be levied against VHA for the surrender of the land as they had proactively come forward during challenging Covid times as per the call of government authorities to contemplate a common oxygen plant.
In the letter signed by Dr. Ashok Arbat- VHA President on 15th June 23, he has stated that since constructing an oxygen plant is no longer a viable option for the VHA cluster members, surrender of land with no penal charges is in the best interest of both parties involved.
Recently a VHA delegation of Dr. Shrikant Mukewar, Dr. Anup Marar and Dr. Shantanu Sengupta had approached Union Minister Shri.Nitin Gadkari highlighting their dilemma.
Acknowledging the need for an ethical course of action, Union Minister Shri.Nitin Gadkari has affirmed that the return of the allotted land to the MIDC with no penal charges is the most appropriate decision. Recognizing the importance of responsible land utilization and efficient resource allocation, the Union Minister has shown support for VHA’s efforts in reassessing the feasibility of the project and seeking ethical surrender of the land. Accordingly, he has written to Shri.Uday Samant, Industries Minister, Government of Maharashtra favoring surrender of land with no penalty charges.
Highlighting this step, Dr.Anup Marar, Convener- VHA stated that Team VHA is hopeful that surrender formalities will be soon expedited by MIDC authorities with no penalties.
