Sitabuldi Main Road breathed a sigh of relief on the second day as well. Nagpur Municipal Corporation did not allow hawkers to stand on Sitabuldi Main Road for the second day. The anti-encroachment team of NMC was deployed here since Friday morning. At around 10 am, some hawkers tried to bring goods on Sitabuldi Main Road. But the NMC team immediately seized the goods of these hawkers.
The traffic police also showed strictness against the auto drivers, e-rickshaws who were standing near Variety Chowk. Due to this, traffic was smooth on Sitabuldi Main Road today. Vehicles were moving from both sides on the main road without interruption.
The city traffic police have decided to allow vehicular movement to flow in both directions on Sitabuldi Main Road from August 9 to August 15 to avoid congestion due to ongoing infrastructure projects in the Sitabuldi area.
Hawkers from Sitabuldi have become aggressive against this decision of NMC and Traffic Department. Hawkers, led by former MLA Prakash Gajbhiye, met Municipal Commissioner and Police Commissioner today and opposed this decision. If this decision is not withdrawn, the hawkers have warned of a strong agitation.
