The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is hosting the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ programme as part of the Amrit Mahotsav of the country’s independence. The ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ programme was launched at the district collector’s office’s Bachat Bhawan on August 9.
The programme includes 5 activities: Shilafalak, Panchprana Pratigya and Selfie, Vasudha Vandan, Veero Ka Vandan, flag hoisting and the national anthem.
Taking a selfie while performing the Panchpran Sankalp with a mud or earthen light in hand is an important aspect of this ritual.
Selfie sites have been set up at 75 locations across the city and Nagpurians are responding positively to this initiative.
A special selfie competition is scheduled for August 15, organised by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, with different age categories. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each category.
Participants can upload this selfie to the Central government’s website to receive a certificate. Selfie stands have been installed at 75 different locations in the city.
.The ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign was inaugurated at the NMC headquarters, where officials and staff took the Panch Pran pledge while holding soil. NMC commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary led the pledge and provided guidance to the delegates. Tributes were paid to 39 martyrs in the district under the initiative.
