Nagpur District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar has appealed to the people to refrain from using national flags made of plastic or paper. These flags are thrown on streets after their use, which is a sort of insult to the national flag.
Dr Itankar said that the manufacture of national flags using plastic or paper has been banned by the government. He also directed the administration to initiate action against those selling plastic or paper flags.
The flags strewn on roads should be collected and disposed of in the laid down manner. Social Organisations, student organizations and others should help in maintaining the dignity of the national flag. Those who cannot destroy the flags in a proper manner may deposit them with the district collectorate or tahasil office.
