Plaque of freedom fighters unveiled at six sxhools
Plaques bearing the names of freedom fighters were installed at six schools of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. The plaques were installed as a part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ national mission being implemented to mark 75 years of Indian independence. The plaques were unveiled on Friday.
Freedom fighters or family members of the martyrs were honoured during the events.
MLA Vikas Kumbhare unveiled the plaque at Pannalal Devadia Hindi Primary School. Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit CFhaudhari, former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, NMC Chief Engineer Rajiv Gaikwad, Superintending Engineer Manoj Talewar, Assistant Commissioner Ganmesh Rathod, Executive Engineer Rakshamwar, Education Officer Sadhana Sayam School Superi8ntedent Seema Khobragade, Headmaster Deepak Wasule were present.
Kombhare said that the plaque would act as an inspiration for the students. The freedom fighters and their family members are being honoured in an effort to inculcate the national spirit, under the mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Chaudhari said that the names on the plaque would inform the students about the freedom fighters and military personnel who laid their lives for the nation. He appealed to the people to install the national flag on every house from August 13 to 15.
Dayashankar Tiwari spoke about freedom fighters Shankar Mahalle, Krishnrao Kakde and the story of Lal Sena. He said that NCC training should be made compulsory for all students.
Mdhuri Devadia, Sunil Chandpurkar, Dr Santosh Modi, Ajay Takkamore from freedom fighters families, ex-servicemen Sushil Tupte, Nilesh Patil, Vinod Thakre, Ashish Ghumre, Sheikh Ayaz, Rupesh Thakre, Sanjay Thakre, Ravi Chaudhari, Azmal Khan, D V Dupare were honoured by offering a memento, scarf and shawl.

Durga Nagar Secondary School: Additional Commissioner Anchal Goel unveiled the plaque at Durga Nagar Secondary School. Former Corporator Kalpana Kumbhalkar, Rupali Thakur, Executive Engineer Manoj Kumar Singh, Assistant Education Officer Sanjay Dighore, Superintendent Veena Lonare and others were present.
Family members of freedom fighters Pralhad Kukde, Kalpana Rahate, and Kargil War participant Sunil Mankar were honoured on the occasion. A tree plantation programme was also held on the occasion.
Sanjay Nagar Hindi Primary School: MLA Krishna Khopde was the chief guest at Sanjay Nagar Hindi Primary School in east Nagpur. He unveiled the plaque at the school. Executive Engineer Mate, former Corporator Chetna Tank, Sarita Kawre, Anil Gdnre, Chandan Malagar, Headmastera Vijay Soni, Shyam Gohokar and others were present.
Freedom fighters Dilip Suryavanshi, Captain Sudhir Sudke, S Rajesh were honoured on the occasion.
Vivekanand Hindi Secondary School: Standing Committee President PrakashBhoyar unveiled the plaque. NMC officers Milind Meshram, Ravindra Bundhade, former corporator Pallavi Shyamkule, Minashri Telgote, Laxmi Yadav, Ashvini Feddewar, Headmaster Rajkumar Bombate and Nutan Chopde were present.
Valmikinagar Hindi Secondary School: Assistant Commissioner Prakash Warade former corporator Sanjay Bangale, Sunil Hiranwar, Pramod Kaurati, Varsha Thakre were the guests.
Ex-servicemen Col Mukesh Sahare, Bharat Kuklori, Subhash Chorpagar, Vivek Bobde, Bandu Yelmule, Makrand Durugkar, Pravin Lokhande were felicitated.
MAK Azad Urdu High School and Junior College: Assistant Commissioner Harish Raut unveiled the plaque. Former Corporator Mohammad Jamal, M Ibrahim Taufik Ahmad, NMC officers and Headmaster Dhariyasheel Waghmare and others were present.
