Tejas Pugalia, a Class 11 student at Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, has authored a captivating book titled ‘A Simplified Introduction to Quantum Mechanics’.
This remarkable achievement is not only a testament to Tejas’ intellectual prowess but also his passion for physics. His goal in writing this book was to make the complex topic of quantum mechanics accessible to a broader audience, echoing Albert Einstein’s quote, “if you cannot explain it to a 6-year-old, you do not understand it well enough.”
Tejas is passionate about Physics and he harbors dreams of pursuing a degree in Physics from the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States. It was Einstein’s challenge that spurred him on – he aimed to break down the intricate principles of quantum mechanics in a manner that even an eighth-grader could understand.
To achieve this, he consciously veered away from the mathematical intricacies of partial differential equations and linear algebra, making his book purely theoretical in nature. What sets Tejas’ book apart is its emphasis on simplicity. Unlike traditional quantum mechanics textbooks, which often delve into complex mathematics, his book takes a conceptual approach, ensuring that readers without an extensive math background can grasp the fundamental ideas.
This approach has garnered the attention of prominent professors from esteemed institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University. The book received reviews from experts like Aram Harrow, a MIT professor, and Tejas’ own mathematics and physics tutor, Akash Gajbhiye, who holds a master’s degree in mathematics. Even Nobel Prize winner Wolfgang Ketterle acknowledged and commended the book & the author. Throughout the journey of writing and publishing the book, Tejas expresses immense gratitude for the unwavering support he has received from various quarters.
His work is not only a personal achievement but also a contribution to the other high school students passionate about Physics but do not have such a strong math background. It’s noteworthy that the book is available for purchase as an e-book on Amazon at an affordable price of INR 50, making it accessible to a wide range of readers.
