Two cases of jaundice due to contaminated water have been reported in Nagpur when the dengue was on the rise. These patients are being treated at Daga Hospital.
Epidemic Officer of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Dr. Govardhan Navkhare said, one of these patients has been discharged from the hospital and the other is undergoing treatment. The condition of the other is also stable. Everyone needs to take precautions to avoid the risk of jaundice, he added.
Accordingly, boil water and drink chilled water (boil for at least 10 minutes), wash hands regularly, wash fruits and vegetables, avoid eating open food, eat well-cooked and hot food, cover prepared food properly .
Last year, not a single case of category A and E jaundice due to contaminated water was found in Nagpur city. But this year, in the Nehru Nagar zone, two ten-year-old brothers have been diagnosed with jaundice. Both were admitted to Daga Smriti Government Women’s Hospital due to severe symptoms of jaundice. Jaundice was diagnosed in them during a medical examination.
