Nagpur Municipal Corporation has abolished the rule of only 4 feet high Ganesha idols. For the last two years, NMC had imposed a limit on the height of Ganesh idols. Idols up to 4 feet for Sarvajanik mandals and 2 feet for domestic ones were allowed.
This rule has been abolished this year but the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has appealed to the citizens to keep the height of the idols the same so that it can be immersed in artificial ponds.
NMC will issue permits to all idol makers in the city. For this, idol makers are required to register with NMC. NMC has also asked makers to stop making POP idols. It has appealed to citizens to cooperate in celebrating Eco-friendly Ganesh Festival
