Nagpur Municipal Corporation is introducing a Single Window arrangement for registration of Ganesh Utsav Mandals, sculptors and artists, from September 1.
Use of POP (Plaster of Paris) idols has been banned as per directions of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. A meeting to review the situation and make arrangements for the eco-friendly Ganesh festival was held during a meeting led by the Additional Municipal Commissioner Anchal Goel.
Goel discussed steps to be taken to ensure environment-friendly celebrations, without hurting the celebration mood of the people. In an effort to make idols for the celebrations, various documents are required. A single window system is being introduced to facilitate the process.
Goel said that a committee should be formed to ensure that all the rules are followed properly. Dr Gajendra Mahalle of the Solid Waste Disposal Department gave information about the instructions received by the department.
Representatives of various departments were present.
