Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has asked the contractor company that what has been done to protect the trees at Inter Model Station Ajni. The company was directed to submit its reply by September 13.
Swachh Association has filed a Public Interest Litigation for the protection of Ajni Vann. It was heard before Justice Atul Chandurkar and Vrishali Joshi. It is alleged that Rail Land Development Authority and Keystone company illegally cut hundreds of trees in Ajni vann. The first phase of Ajni Inter Model Station project is to be developed on 54 acres of land.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has filed a complaint at the Imamwada Police Station against illegal felling of trees. Based on this, the police have registered an FIR under Section 21 of the Tree Conservation Act against the accused on May 10. Besides, NMC Garden Superintendent issued notices to both Rail Authority and Keystone company on April 25. Keystone refuted the allegations by submitting a reply to the notice.
