National Sports Day was celebrated enthusiastically on 29th August 2023 at NTPC Mouda under the guidelines of Government of India. This day is celebrated across the country as the birth anniversary of ‘Hockey Wizard’ Major Dhyan Chand to create health awareness and make people more energetic towards different regional sports. With this determination, the Sports Council of NTPC organized 2.5k-5k marathon, volleyball for men and throwball for women for its members. On this occasion, all the participants took the ‘Fit India’ Pledge and vowed to motivate themselves and their families to lead an active and healthy lifestyle and take out 30 minutes to exercise daily.
For creating a better work-life balance and promoting sports among its members, Mega Indoor Sports Tournament was organized by NTPC Employees Welfare Association (MEWA) which continued for a month. In this tournament Badminton and Table Tennis competition was organized for children of different age groups, employees, and their family members in which about 170 people participated and more than 250 matches were played. This initiative was taken by MEWA to create better health and work-life balance for the residents of Utkarsh Nagar.
