The Maharashtra Government has announced that the best Ganesh Utsav Mandals will be awarded. Minister for Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar appealed to the Ganesh Mandals to register for the competition by September 15.
Three prizes each for Mumbai, Navi Suburbs, Pune, and Thane, and one each from other districts will be awarded by the government. Out of the 44 awards to be given, the best Ganesh Mandal in the state will get a cash award of Rs 5 lakhs. The second and the third prizes will be of Rs 2.50 lakhs and Rs 1 lakh respectively. The remaining 41 selected Mandals will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each. All the winners will also be given a certificate.
The Mandals can register for the contest by e-mail – mahotsav.plda@gmail.com, by September 15. The entries received on P L Deshpande Academy will be forwarded to the District Collectors by September 18. The district-level committee members will visit the registered Mandals from September 19 to 28. The relevant documents will be verified by the committee and video will be shot. The Committee will recommend three names, one of which will be selected for the award by the Academy. The winners will be given prizes on October 12.
