Sports injuries are sometimes impossible to recover quickly. In such cases, sports physiotherapists are needed by the athletes to enhance their physical and mental abilities for competitions. Keeping in view the need for rehabilitation of injured athletes, Sports Physiotherapy Unit is being set up in Physiotherapy Department attached to GMCH.
This is the first center to be set up in Central India in a Government Medical College and Hospital and this center is going to be a boon for the athletes.
Nagpur’s percentage is increasing in various competitions and outdoor sports. Athletes are often required to undergo rigorous training to build up their physical and mental capacity for these competitions.
This center is beneficial for the treatment of delicate parts of the body like muscles, nerves (ligaments) after injury. This Sports Physiotherapy Unit is going to help the athletes. Apart from this, this department will help in rehabilitating the injured players to increase their potential again at a new pace.
Sports Physiotherapy services will be provided to the players three days a week in this unit. Equipment Considering the injuries and pains faced by the players admitted to the service, the OTPT Department of GMCH has been provided with the latest Humac Iso Kinetic Norm equipment. On this equipment, the players will get special physiotherapy services according to the physical needs of the injured players in the triple form of isometric, iso-tonic and iso-kinetic.
