Kanhan police busted gambling on card at a canteen of Western Coalfields Limited’s (WCL’s) coal mine number 3 in the Kamptee sub-region and caught three persons, including two employees of the coal company, gambling on cards for money.
The arrested card players have been identified as WCL employees Sharad Bhalabi (53) and Rajeshkumar Sharma (44) both residents of Nagpur and canteen worker, Chetan Pali (37) of Kamptee.
The arrested trio were part of a bigger gathering of card players which dispersed when a patrolling team of the police raided the place following a tip off. The police seized 4,500 in cash and the playing cards from the place and booked the three for gambling.
The close circuit television (CCTV) footage from the spot shows many people, including some more WCL employees, gambling sitting on chairs and gambling for money. Four people including a security guard are also seen standing near the gamblers. The police booked three leading to questions on why the others were let off.
