‘Marbat’ and ‘Badgya’ basically considered symbolic of evil are taken out on procession during the event of Tanha Pola. The black and yellow effigies are called Pilli (yellow) and kaali ( black) Marbat.
Started during British rule in the year 1885 to protest against the British, the Marbat procession is unique and is celebrated only in Nagpur City and is a major attraction at the end of the holy month of Shravan.
This year the procession will take place on 15 September 2023, by 9 am Jaganath Budhwari.
