The Pola festival this time may turn out to be a special one for school students, teachers and parents in Nagpur as they look forward to two back-to-back holidays i.e. on September 14 and September 15.
The confusion started with a circular issued by the Nagpur divisional commissioner office last week mentioning September 15 as a Pola holiday from their quota of leaves.
The education department had already declared a holiday on the same day from its quota, but since the divisional commissioner’s office is several notches up the hierarchy, the education department decided to declare a holiday on September 14.
District education officer (secondary) Ravindra Katolkar said, “I don’t see any scheduling issues for schools if both days are declared as holidays. Our academic calendar has exactly 78 days marked as holidays and this will remain unchanged.”
