The first phase of the multi-component Pardi bridge, a unique transport model having multiple fly-overs criss-crossing, is ready to be open to the public. The opening ceremony is scheduled during Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19. The fly-over starts from Saat Vachan Lawn in Wardhaman Nagar to Kalamna Market and from Pardi Octroi Post to Bhandara Road.
Krishna Khopde, MLA, accompanied by officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) took a trial run on the fly-over on Thursday.
Khopde said, three phases of Pardi bridge will be inaugurated by state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Ganesh Chaturthi. The Pardi mutli-layered transport system was approved by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and latter even allocated a sum of Rs 648 crore for the same.
The Pardi bridge encompasses several components, and is meant to streamline movement of heavy vehicles. Also one of the components is the ROB on Itwari railway line that will allow hassle free movement towards Bhandara Road.
The remaining two phases, including Ring Road and Vaishnodevi Chowk stretches, will be inaugurated in next four months. Also, there are two railway crossings under the Pardi bridge. The work is going on at a fast pace at both the sites.
