On 4th September 2023, the NDHTA Ramnagar court in Nagpur reverberated with energy and excitement as young tennis enthusiasts from various schools gathered to compete in the Soft Lawn Tennis Tournament 2023-24, organized by DSO Nagpur and NDHTA Ramnagar Nagpur. Centre Point School, Amravati Road Bypass was represented by a group of budding tennis stars who were eager to leave their mark in the tournament.
In the U-14 girls’ category, Surmayee Sathe of 7A played with remarkable precision and agility. Surmayee and Ishaanvi Bhivapurkar clashed in a friendly yet competitive final round. The match saw excellent rallies with Surmayee securing a 2-0 victory, thereby earning the first place, while Ishaanvi gracefully claimed the second place. Dhriti Ganwani from 8C had her mettle tested in the quarter-final where she registered a clean sweep victory against Akshara from T.B.R.A.N.S. School. Although faced with a setback in the semi-final against Ishaanvi, Dhriti displayed a commendable spirit as she fought for third place in a decisive match against Swaranjali from T.B.R.A.N.S. School and triumphed with a score of 2-0.
In the U-17 girls’ category, Ira Agrawal from 10C demonstrated a splendid performance throughout the tournament, displaying both skill and determination. The final round witnessed a powerful display of tennis with Ira securing a dominant victory with a scoreline of 2-0 against Urvi Atre from T.B.R.A.N.S. School, thereby clinching the first position. Arnavi Gudadhe from 9E showcased true sportsmanship throughout her journey in the tournament. Despite a loss in the quarter-final, she bounced back fiercely to secure fifth place by defeating Chetna. V in a nail-biting match that ended with a scoreline of 2-1.
Our skilled players qualified for the Soft Tennis Divisional level tournament to be held in Gondia, carrying with them the legacy of CPS, AB’s sporting excellence.
The girls were lauded by the Principal, Mrs. Perveen Cassad, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Bhakti Bobde, coach, Mr. Ganesh Bagde and the staff.
