Nagpur District Collector has announced that schools and colleges will remain closed on Saturday due to very heavy rains during the night.
Very heavy rains started around 2 am filled in various localities within a short time. Ambazari lake is overflowing. Several areas near the lake including Gandhi Nagar, Daga Layout, Corporation Colony were flooded.
District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar said that the Disaster Management teams are on the alert mode.
The lanes in Sitabuldi market are also flooded. Rain water entered shops causing heavy damage to the goods.
Within two and a half hours the city received over 100 mm rains.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also issued directions to the city administrators.
He has appealed to the people not to move out on Saturday .
