With Eid-e-Milad celebrations coinciding with the last day of immersion of idols for Ganesh Chaturthi revelers on Thursday, As meetings with community and religious leaders progress, Nagpur police are ramping up security, particularly in Central Nagpur.
Permission has been given for Eid-e-Milad processions from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Every year, a large procession takes place in the Central Nagpur area in which thousands of people participate. This year, as per the suggestion of the police, the time of the procession has been changed. There will be 4 different big processions that will pass through Sevasdan Chowk, Bhagvaghar Chowk, Tanga Stand, and CA Road. The Ganesh Visarjan procession will begin after the Eid procession is over.
Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has informed that all precautions have been taken by the police department to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the city.
457 Ganesha Mandal procession will take place on Thursday. The next day 422 Ganesh idols, and on 29th September 386 idols will be immersed.
Nagpur Police has made full preparations for security and after discussing with all the Ganesh mandal arrangements have been made.
Nagpur Police has made a strong Security arrangement. 5000 police personnel, 1200 home guards, and two units of SRPF have been deployed in various areas of the city. Nagpur police have held around 800 peace committee meetings to ensure that both festivals are conducted peacefully. Apart from this preventive action has been taken against 1800 persons with criminal backgrounds in the city.
