Sahajveeer Singh Maras in Open Group and Vritika Game in Girls Group Annexed the Title of the Nagpur District Under-13 Open and Girls Chess Championship organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur on 24th September 2023.
In the Under-13 open group, Sahajveer, Rutam Yogesh Zanwar and Yuval Sunil Mohurle all scored six points out of 7 rounds, however Sahajveer was declared winner on the basis of better tie break score followed by Rutam on second place. Yuval stood third in merit list. Amitav Ramteke scoring 5 ½ point had to be content with fourth position.
In the Girls Under-13 Group, Vritika Game and Shraddha Bajaj both scored 6 ½ points and were way ahead of the other participating players. On the basis of tie break scores, Vritika Game was declared champion whereas Shraddha got the Runners-up position. Bhakti Vonod Titarmare scored 5 points to finish third while Prissha Rathod was placed fourth with 4 ½ points to her credit.
Sahajveer Maras & Rutam Yogesh Zanwar in Open Under-13 Group and Vritika Game & Shraddha Bajaj in Girls Under-13 group shall represent Nagpur District in the Maharashtra Under-13 Chess Championship to be held later this year.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Chief Guest Smt Kamal Chandwani, Director, Kids Universe Laxmandas School of Scholors Preschool and Day Care who is also working as Professor in KDK College of Engineering. Shri Akash Rewatkar, Chess Coach, Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur & Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation were present on the occasion. Shri S. S. Soman conducted the proceedings and also proposed vote of thanks.
The Trophies and Medals were given to the Top 10 winners in each group. In addition, medals were also given to the top finishers in Under-7, Under-9 and Under-11 age groups in Open and Girls separately.
FA Shiva Iyer, Chief Arbiter successfully conducted the event who was assisted by FA Amit Tembhurne and SNA Prayas Ambade and Prathmesh Machave.
