Mrs. Dharmavir Kaur Bedi, a 66-year-old resident of Chhindwara, breathed her last at Kingsway Hospital after a brief illness on September 28, 2023. However, her passing marks the beginning of an inspiring tale of selflessness and hope.
In a touching gesture of compassion, Mr. Prafull Ganatra, the head of the Navratri Clinic, reached out to Mr. Raju Chawla, a distinguished figure in the field of eye donation in Nagpur. Their aim was to fulfill the heartfelt wish of Mrs. Meenu Sabharwal, Mr. Chawla’s daughter, who wished to donate her mother’s eyes and body, a testament to the enduring spirit of altruism. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, eye donation could not be carried out as planned. However, this setback did not deter the determined individuals involved in this noble mission.
Mr. Raju Chawla, undeterred by the challenges, sought the assistance of Mr. Panju Totwani, a prominent social worker in Nagpur. Together, they orchestrated a seamless series of arrangements, encompassing body donation and ambulance services, meticulously coordinated at Datta Meghe Medical College’s Anatomy Department.
Dr. Trupti Balwir, HOD, Anatomy, DMMC stated that Mrs. Dharmavir Kaur Bedi’s legacy will live on in an exceptional way. Her body will serve as an invaluable resource for the education and research needs of aspiring MBBS students at Datta Meghe Medical College.
