Her heart had stopped beating, and her vital signs were extremely unstable. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the medical team, led by Dr. Rupesh Bokade, sprang into action.
Dr. Bokade, an experienced emergency physician, assessed the situation and quickly made the decision to administer multiple DC shocks to Mrs. Ramabai’s heart in an attempt to restore its rhythm. This technique involves delivering an electrical shock to the heart, effectively resetting its electrical activity and allowing it to regain a normal rhythm. Also considering her labouredbreathing and low oxygen level Dr Bokade intubated her and put her on ventilator immediately. Dr Jayesh Timane , senior Physician also rushed to the emergency department.
After several more minutes of intense efforts, with total 12 DC Shocks her heart regained a weak but detectable heartbeat. She was immediately transferred to cath lab where Dr Nitin Tiwarisenior Cardiologist performed emergency PAMI (primary angioplasty in myocardial infarction.) Myocardial infarction results from acute obstruction of a coronary artery. Symptoms of acute myocardial infarction include chest pain or discomfort with or without dyspnea, nausea, and/or diaphoresis.
Mrs. Ramabai’s was subsequently transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit, where she continues to recover. Her family is overjoyed with the outcome and deeply grateful for the skill and dedication of the medical professionals who saved her life.
In a statement, Dr. Rupesh Bokade commented, “This was a truly remarkable case. Ramabai’s life hung in the balance, and our team’s quick and decisive actions were crucial in saving her. Multiple DC shocks are rarely administered, but in this case, it was a game-changer.”
He further added that such cases occur in 5 to 10 years and are very rare. She suffered a masive heart attack and it was literally a race against time.
