Human rights activist Narges Mohammadi who raised her voice against atrocities against women in Iran was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2023. The 51-year-old activist Narges is in Evin Jail in Tehran.
She was arrested 13 times, held guilty five times and awarded 31 years of imprisonment and 154 lashes. A talented student in physics she established herself as a supporter of women’s rights and equality. Narges was first arrested in 2011 and faced imprisonment for helping her workers in the jail and their families. Following her release on bail she raised a voice against capital punishment. She was arrested again in 2015.
