More than 1.25 kg of gold was seized from a female passenger of an Air Arabia flight at the Nagpur Airport early on Friday. This action was taken by the customs department. This gold was hidden in a paste form in a specially made belt.
Reshma, 35, a resident of Mumbai, had reached Nagpur by Air Arabia flight G-9-415 from Sharjah, But her attempt to smuggle the gold to avoid customs duty was not successful at Nagpur airport. On seeing the female passenger in a suspicious condition, the officers checked her and found 1.270 kg of 24 carat pure gold in paste form in her belt. It is said that this belt was specially made for gold smuggling. The value of seized gold is Rs 72.29 lakh.
