BVM Civil Lines wins Boys Best School Title and BVM Shrikrishna Nagar clinches Girls Best School Title
Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Civil Lines Boys team consisting of Arav Dhoot, Chirag Lahoti, Siddharth Bang and Harsh Lahoti won the Interschool Boys School Trophy while Bhartiya Shrikrishna Nagar Girls consisting of Bhakti Titarmare, Anisha Kumbhalkar, Chhavi Zade and Kavya Bagdia clinched the Girls School Trophy of GIIS Nagpur Inter School Chess Championship 2023 which was conducted on 15th October 2023 at the Global Indian International School(GIIS), lava, Khadgaon Road, Nagpur. The Chess Championship was organised by Global Indian International School, Nagpur jointly with Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation in a very Grand spacious hall of GIIS School and was recognized by Chess Association Nagpur. The School Prizes were declared based on the scores of the top 4 players participating from each school scoring higher points.
The GIIS Under 15 Chess Championship attracted a whopping 211 participants including 157 Boys and 62 Girls.
The Tournament was an eight-round individual chess event from which the top prizes for each age group were declared and distributed. Atharv Tawri got the Under 15 Best Boys prize whereas Anisha Kumbhalkar got the Best Under 15 Girls Prizes. The best Under-13 Boys prize went to Sai Rahul Tarekar while Bhakti Titarmare who top scored for girls clinched the Best Under 13 Girls prize. Kushagra Paliwal who top scored in the boys’ event won the Best Under-11 Boys Prize while Yashika Musale won the Best Under-11 Girls Prize. Best Under-9 Boys and Girls Prize went to Arava Dhoot and Swara Rahul Gandhi respectively. The Prizes for the smallest Under-7 Boys Group went to Swaraj Mishra while Swara Borkar won the Best Under-7 Girls Prize.
The Prizes were distributed at the hands of Smt Nidhi Gupta, Principal GIIS Nagpur. Shri S.S.Soman, Member, MCA Tournament Observer Committee, Shri Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary of Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation & Chess Association Nagpur along with the officials of GIIS Nagpur and various school faculties were prominently present on the occasion.
The GIIS School authorities specially took care of all the necessary arrangements for parents and accompanying persons including small in-house games for parents while the players battled out their wits on the chess boards. School Buses were provided by GIIS for the players and parents for pick-up and drop-off.
FA Shiva Iyer was the Chief Arbiter who was assisted by FA Amit Tembhurne, FA Swati Kumbhalkar, SNA Sagar Sakhare, SNA Prayas Ambade, SNA Bharti Dhote, SNA Shyam Agrawal, Amit Bhongare and Prathmesh Machave.
The entire team of GIIS Nagpur and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation worked hard to make the tournament a grand success.
