The Bombay Natural History Society should prepare a plan for the effective protection and conservation of vultures, wild buffalo and wolves. Vultures are on the verge of extinction, while wild buffalo and wolves need proper protection. The instructions were issued by Maharashtra Minister for Forest, Culture and Fisheries Sudhir Mungantiwar. He is also Vice-president of the State Wildlife Protection Board.
Mungantiwar addressed a meeting of the Board through virtual mode. Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary of the Forest Department Venugopal Reddi, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shailesh Temburnikar, Wildlife Board member Secretary Mahip Gupta were present.
A total of 31 Proposals relating to the water supply, underground OFC (Optical Fibre Cable), erection of mobile towers, National Highways, underground tunnels, repairs of temples, electricity transmission cables, laying natural gas pipelines, mining etc were discussed and approved.
The Board cleared the proposal of the extension of Mansingh Dev Sanctuary by including Saleghat in the Parseoni taluka of Nagpur district.
