Nagpur Municipal Corporation will develop smart public toilets at 34 places in the city. A presentation on the identified spots and plan for the smart toilets was presented before the Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari on Tuesday.
Chief Engineer Rajiv Gaikwad, Superintending Engineer Manoj Talewar, Deputy Commissioner Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Executive Engineer Kamlesh Chavan, Deputy Engineer D M Bhowate, Sachin Chamate, Manoj Rangari, Pethewar; Ramnaresh Jha of Sulabh International; Architects Sudhaklar Kini, Rahul Sharma were present.
Kini informed about the proposed smart toilets, their design and facilities.
NMC carried out a survey of 44 spots, of which 34 were selected for the construction of the smart toilets. Out of the 34 spots 10 will be developed on NMC’s land, two on NIT’s land and 22 on footpaths. Three types viz Contemporary, Ultra-Moden and Heritage. The estimated cost of the construction is Rs 16.73 crores.
The Smart Public Toilets will have separate facilities of toilets, urinals and bathrooms for men and women, Hirkani room for lactating mothers for feeding, Wheelchair for the disabled, a Sanitary pad vending machine and disposal machine etc.
