A total of 78 high-rise buildings have received notifications thus far following the Aeronautic Obstacle Survey, which was carried out in a 25 km radius surrounding the airport. In response to these notices, the building owners are communicating with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
A building on Wardha Road across from the airport and a few structures heading towards Jaltala had issues. At the time, it was also questioned how these structures obtained clearance to rise to such a height given their proximity to the airport. The airport’s operator, MIHAN India Limited (MIL), has sent notices to 78 buildings as part of an assessment carried out by surveyors since 2018.
Apart from Municipal Corporation and other agencies, NOC from MIL regarding aeronautical obstacles is also necessary for the construction of the building. In the notification of the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2018, under GR 751 (E), the airport operator has been given the responsibility of conducting Aeronautic Obstacle Survey.
Abid Ruhi, senior airport director of MIL, said that till now 78 buildings had been given notice through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Many of them were responding to the notice to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation by removing the structures creating obstacles.
