Nagpur Municipal Corporation employees served round the clock at Deekshabhoomi from October 22 to 25 to prevent any kind of inconvenience caused to the visitors, who come in large numbers on Dhammachakra Pravartan Din.
The arrangements were made under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, Additional Commissioners Anchal Goel and Dr Sunil Lahane. Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Milind Meshram was the Nodal Officer. Transport Deputy Commissioner Suresh Bagle, Solid Waste Management Director Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Health Officer Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Executive Engineer of Public Works Manoj Talewar, Health Engineering Superintending Engineer Dr Shweta Bannerjee; Executive Engineer of Electricity Department Ajay Mankar; Water Resources Department Executive Engineer Shrikant Waikar and other officers monitored the arrangements.
More than 1,000 employees from all the departments were engaged during the period. The work was successfully completed without any complaints. About 700 sanitary workers were deployed and worked in three shifts. Waste disposal was managed by installing several dustbins in the area. A total of 900 temporary toilets connected to the sewer line were made available, along with a sewage treatment plant to avoid foul smell.
Health services and ambulances were also made available round the clock. Besides installing water tanks and 140 taps for drinking water, restrooms at Mata Kacheri and ITI were made available. Adequate lighting, CCTV, a police control room, information centre helped in carrying out the event smoothly.
Dr Chaudhari congratulated the teams for completing the work without any problem.
